Day 1 - AfriCat Foundation

  • You will be met by your private guide when you arrive at the Windhoek airport
  • From here head north via Okahandja to your lodge for the evening. It is important to arrive here by 14h30 in order to enjoy the afternoon tea/coffee and cakes before the PM excursions which will probably be to the animal enclosure, a small reserve really, to view some animals especially the collared leopards
  • Back to the lodge for dinner with an optional night excursion to the hide (animal viewing area)

Day 2, 3 and 4 - Etosha National Park

  • Early morning rise for some snacks before heading to the AM excursion which will most likely be a visit to the AfriCat Foundation to see and experience the rehabilitation, tending to and release of wildlife, concentrating on cheetah and other carnivores
  • After a hearty breakfast, head north via Otjiwarongo and Tsumeb to the eastern side of the Etosha National Park
  • Days 3 & 4 is set aside for self-drive game drives in the Etosha National Park waterholes such as Tsumcor, Klein Okevi, Chuddop and Klein Namutoni are great.

Day 4, 5 and 6 - Etosha National Park

  • Day 4 is a slow game drive through Etosha, stopping at numerous waterholes along the way. A good suggestion is to stop at the Halali resort for a lunch break (either use the local restaurant or arrange lunch packs from your lodge)
  • Great game viewing waterholes on the way to Halali would be Kalkheuvel, Okerfontien and then the very best, Goas which is a double waterhole. After lunch, head west to Okaukuejo stopping at waterholes such as Rietfontein, Salvadora, Homob and Nebrownii along the way. Your lodge is situated outside Etosha, very close to the southern Anderson Gate on a private game reserve.
  • Days 5 & 6 is set aside for game drives into Etosha.

Day 8 - Windhoek

  • Head back to Windhoek today (about 4 hours) where this 8-Day excursion ends
